Join us for the closing event of the Holcim Foundation Fellowship “Designing Incentives for Change,” a collaboration between the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction and station+, the Chair for Architecture and Storytelling, Department of Architecture, ETH Zurich.
Over two weeks, a diverse group of international fellows — from different disciplines, universities, and countries — have immersed themselves in the complex chain of space production, at the interplay of politics, economics, design, and cultural values that shape how our cities evolve.
Through site visits in Brussels, stakeholder conversations, and critical reflection, they have examined the systems and relationships that govern today’s construction sector: how we build, reuse, and adapt existing spaces.
The evening will bring these perspectives into the public arena, as the fellows share their collective thinking and learning in dialogue with a panel of experts from across the building sector — in a city whose legacy of large-scale demolition and new ambitions for sustainable construction make it a unique laboratory for urban transformation. Together, we will ask: What are the barriers, arguments, and narratives that could trigger real change, making adaptive reuse and renovation the new norm?

Holcim Foundation Fellowship
The Holcim Foundation wishes to grow and support its global community of change accelerators of all ages by creating educational opportunities that foster a systemic enquiry approach for built environment students and practitioners alike. The Holcim Foundation Fellowship aims to create unique moments for Masters students and practices in all regions of the world to learn together from recently built projects and to challenge existing modes of practice. The Fellowship seeks to foster a curiosity and solutions-driven mindset through a series of actions - open dialogue, consultation, exploration, and reflection - and to create a dynamic feedback loop that leads to transferable and scalable outcomes.
