Finalist projects of the competition for the redesign of the gardens of the Royal Palace in Brussels
The exhibition presents the eight finalist projects of the competition launched in October 2024 by the non-profit organisation Quartier des Arts, which aims to reimagine the three gardens in front of the Royal Palace in Brussels in the perspective of Belgium's bicentenary anniversary.
The proposals address both historic and contemporary issues, exploring ways of reinventing an iconic heritage site while responding to current social and environmental challenges.
Through plans and drawings, the exhibition reflects eight very different responses to the same competition programme: approaches to landscape architecture that explore social, ecosystemic, poetic, educational and curatorial dimensions, with sometimes radical proposals to reinvent the very idea of the garden in the era of climate change.
